In the U.S. hot dogs are like BBQ in that everyone has their favorite. It’s mostly a regional thing. I’ve had both all over the lower 48 and most of them were good. But the best hot dog I’ve ever had—by far—was from the Roanoke Weiner Stand on the Market Square in Roanoke, Virginia. The perfect meat cooked on a grill, onions and chili to die for. Add a little mustard and, well, I’m drooling all over my keyboard so I won’t go on. If you are ever in the vicinity of Roanoke, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western Virginia (not West Virginia, mind you), do yourself a favor and stop by long enough to try one. You won’t regret it. Then come back here and leave a comment!
